See those spots? Instead one lamb got all the spots and one lamb got all the blank space.

The mom seems to think they’re OK.

Is it because the dad looks like this?

That might explain the big ears too.

Robin finally let me do some work today. We moved a few sheep to the little pen behind her shop so that the sheep could eat the grass. That’s Jimmy and Jewell greeting the lambs.

That is the scale that Robin and Chris used to use for weighing goat milk. Robin went to the house to get peanut butter. Sheep don’t eat peanut butter. I’d eat peanut butter but Robin didn’t give it to me. She just weighed it. What’s that all about?

Dina finally lambed and Robin took lots of pictures.

I must say that the lambs were up and nursing quickly. I don’t think much of Dina though. I was just minding my own business…

Also, yesterday, the vets from UC Davis came out and we looked at a funny sort of TV while they held something up against  the sheep’s stomachs. They wanted to find out if there was a sheep that could be bred now so that she would lamb in July at the fair.

Here is one of the pictures. The smartest vet (I think she was the smartest because everyone asked her questions) said that this is a picture of a lamb–that little black spot is a kidney and the big one is the abomasum. Maybe she isn’t really that smart because I don’t think that looks like a lamb. The people all seemed to believe her though.

We almost had a dead sheep today.

We found this sheep when we walked behind the barn. She looks dead here, but she was still alive and Robin got her horns out of the fence. She got up and was fine.

Throughout the day I waited patiently and I let Robin take my picture even though I don’t like that much.

I don’t talk to the Donkey very often but she looks annoyed here. I think it’s because she doesn’t like wet feet.

I know that the sheep don’t like mud and water. They don’t want to walk through it.

You’d think that this was a huge lake  because the sheep won’t cross it.

They want to go around the water, so they try to jump it over near the fence.

I don’t mind going through the water. I have to go under this gate to get out there.

After I go through the water I can get out to the pasture. The sheep can’t go out there right now because Robin wants to let the grass start growing. She says it will do that now that we’ve had rain.

This is Dan & Chris (who also live with Robin and me) and Matt & Kaleena and Sam (who doesn’t know he is supposed to face the camera). We have a tree in our house too and I don’t know why. There are plenty of trees outside and they don’t usually come in the house.

This is Amber, the Cat that lives with Kaleena and Matt. I really look forward to seeing her. I spend most of my time there watching her and following her around the house.

Like I said, Benny does’t usually go places with us. He hadn’t met the Cat before. The Cat ignored him because there were other things that she needed to do.

Later in the day our other relatives (and one dog) came to visit. I know all of them because they have visited our house before. We all went on a walk to the lake. Even Benny came.

I’ve been to this lake before. Usually this part is under water, but there has been no rain so there isn’t as much water in the lake. Us dogs have to be on leashes at the lake because the people that control the lake don’t want us in the water. Dumb people. There are ducks in the lake. I think I’m cleaner than a duck.

Here is a picture of all of us before we walked back up to the house. We had a pretty good day and the people all seemed very happy to spend it here.

This is a picture of Bonnie and me looking down at the sheep from the second level of the barn. Bonnie jumped from the stairs into the sheep part once. Way to go, Bonnie!

This is when Robin took all of us for a walk near the canal. That other dog is Benny. He still lives here. He’s kind of old and sometimes he is grumpy.

These are old pictures. Benny doesn’t go on walks with us any more. I think it’s because he doesn’t pay attention if Robin wants him to do something. Benny likes to bark at that brown truck when it comes, but that’s just about all we do together. He gets me in trouble because he barks a lot. Then I bark and Robin yells at us. She says that I know better. Doesn’t Benny know better? He just gets away with it. But that’s not what I was writing about. I was writing about Bonnie.

Bonnie moved away a few years ago. Robin says that she was not happy here. She had been mistreated and was afraid of lots of things. Bonnie liked Robin–I know that–but she was kind of hard to live with. I remember that Bonnie was afraid when I was herding sheep and she would run to the house and hide. When we were in the barn Bonnie wouldn’t behave properly. When she was on the outside of the fence she was always biting at the sheep or barking at them. Bonnie went to live with some people who live way up north in the snow. It’s called Modoc County. I wonder if that is near the North Pole. Those people didn’t have any sheep but they had another dog that Bonnie could play with and she got to go to work every day with her new person. I heard that he even let Bonnie sit on the couch and watch TV with him. Wow! I don’t get to do that.

So anyway, Robin got this letter. Bonnie was in a picture with Santa Claus. See, I think she does live near the North Pole! They sent another picture, too, that shows Bonnie lying on a special cushion. I don’t have a special cushion like that. Maybe you have to know Santa Claus to get one of those. Here is one more picture of Bonnie. This is how I like to remember her–when we went for walks she seemed happy! I’m glad that now she is living at a place where she is happy all the time.

The excitement is over for another day.

The guy always leaves something behind. That’s what Robin gets excited about. I don’t know what the big deal is about cardboard boxes.

If Mobi and Jake see these I hope they don’t laugh. I WAS NOT A WILLING PARTNER IN THIS. Why doesn’t she pick on someone else?

Today was another boring day for me. When Robin got home we went for a walk and that was fun, but it wasn’t long enough.

This is the alfalfa field across the road from where I live. Sometimes there are birds to chase here, but none today.

This is a sheep near that field. Something is wrong with it because it is doesn’t have spots.

Sometimes I get nasty stickers in my feet. I had one in my right front foot. What did Robin do? She didn’t come running to get it out. Instead she started taking pictures of me. That is just wrong.

Robin didn’t take very many pictures of me. This is when everyone had a lunch break. That nice guy on the hay is John, the shearer. He knew that I should have lunch along with everyone else and he gave me some of his.

This is a sheep they call Sparkle. Doesn’t she look funny? I’m glad they don’t cut all my hair off.

There hasn’t been that much to write about anyway because Robin has been in her shop all the time working. She is supposed to be working outside because then I get to help. And she was gone for a few days. B-o-r-i-n-g.

Today we finally did something fun.

We drove to see my relatives. Robin says the people are her son and daughter-in-law so that makes me Sam and Guiness’s uncle. Huh? All I know is that they are pretty big and Sam is bouncy. I really like the cat that lives with them. The people rode bikes and we all ran. I’m not used to mountains and I will admit that I got a little tired by the end of it. Good thing that Robin and Kaleena had to walk up some of the steep parts. I slowed down too and they think its because I was being nice and staying with her.
